“And he brought them into his house and set food before them, and rejoiced greatly, having believed in God with his whole household.” (Acts 16:34)

#7: Paul expected multiplication.

The third encounter in Philippi— a Philippian jailer.

Acts 16 records that the jailer believed in God…he and his whole household. Just a few verses earlier it recorded that Lydia came to Christ but she did not come alone. It says, “she and her household were baptized.”

This is what happens when the Gospel goes forth. Your family may not immediately believe, as their family did. However, when the Gospel goes forth it always spreads, it always multiplies.

Paul knew that the Gospel would multiply. Wherever he went, he took time to follow-up the new believers with anticipation that the church would grow and need leaders.

Do you expect the Gospel to multiply?

When was the last time that anyone asked you about your faith?

What impact has your faith had on family and friends?

Are you intentionally spreading the message of forgiveness through the cross of Christ?

What is the evidence that our church is multiplying the impact of this message?

The next time you see one of your close Christian friends, consider sharing this commitment:

“Let’s pray for each other…let’s pray that God will use us to spread the Good News of forgiveness through Christ.”
